The Ultimate Evia Island Travel Guide

Breathtaking Coastline

The Destination

The second largest island of Greece and the sixth in size in the entire Mediterranean Sea, Evia is another diversified destination filled with nature’s all blessings.

Evia is the perfect destination for adults and discerned travellers looking for a slice of paradise. Here, you will find stunning beaches with crystal-clear waters, lush green forests, rugged mountains, and picturesque towns to explore. Whether you’re looking for a peaceful getaway or an adventure-filled excursion, Evia offers something for everyone.

Evia also offers a range of activities to enjoy. Take a hike through the lush forests, explore the breathtaking coastline, tour around its refreshing seaside villages or mountainous settlements drenched in thick vegetation, take part in water sports such as diving, fishing, and sailing or just find your perfect place and unwind in the authenticity of this precious land.

We invite you to experience the beauty and unpretentious opulence of Evia for yourself. Whether you’re looking for a peaceful retreat or an adventure-filled trip, Evia is sure to provide you with an unforgettable holiday!

An amalgam of a rugged coastline with turquoise waters and the ampleness of the Aegean, on one side, the closeness to mainland Greece on the other and a massive, almost uniform mountainous volume in the middle, Evia hosts some of the country’s most glorious mountain ranges including Dirfys whose peak resembles a volcano crater and is the home of several bird species, rare flora, special geomorphology and water-related characteristics. Apart from Dirfys, here you will find more mountains of high ecological importance that will both amaze you and totally invigorate you either you visit them for a casual stroll or head for extensive hiking.

Featuring a long and exquisite coastline, Evia is an underestimated beach destination especially for travellers from abroad. The place has managed to preserve its pristine beauty, despite the harsh wildfires of the past years, and its fantastic beaches steal the spotlight from everything else. Especially the outer part that overlooks the Aegean Sea features countless exotic beaches with tropical colours and crystal-clear waters. Yachting and sailing lovers should definitely head for a tour around its shoreline as small, hidden gems every other mile, untouched by the human touch.

Full of contrasts and wonders, from forests to sunkissed long stretches of white sand, Evia is also a place perfect for wellness tourism; and not because of its high-end resorts and spa centres but due to the natural thermal springs that burst from the island’s heart. The most popular and organized thermal spring resort in Edipsos, on the north-eastern part of Evia, a treasure of nature that has been discovered and used since the 4th century B.C. With more than 60 springs whose temperature varies from 34 to 71 Celcius, rich in minerals and countless beneficial elements, Edipsos springs have been gushing from as deep as 3km for thousands of years now.

Being a very large island with such diverse personality and natural traits, we feel that we should definitely outline the most precious settlements so that you get a glimpse of everyday life here. Starting with Halkida, a popular destination for one-day-trip for Athenians, the place is well-known for two things: the water that constantly moves while changing direction in a periodical rhythm, a phenomenon that has been attributed to tide and the phases of the moon, and the abundance of fresh, scrumptious fish and seafood. Another favourite destination is Karystos, on the southernmost part of the island, which is a quaint small seaside settlement that resembles a proper Cycladic village. Tranquility, nature and beautiful beaches will warm your heart and ease your mind. More graphic settlements are found in several spots of the island, scattered from north to south, central, west or east, all with their own distinctive personality and charms.
